OCEAN COUNTY, NJ offers diverse destinations in any direction and one is sure to please you. We are home to three ATLANTIC OCEAN resort areas, each with its distinct personality. POINT PLEASANT BEACH has a boardwalk with an amusement area, Jenkinson's Aquarium, nightlife, a walkable antique-filled downtown with many dining choices & is next BAY HEAD, a village with art galleries and boutique shoppes; SEASIDE HEIGHTS offers wall-to-wall activity with two major amusement piers, Breakwater Beach Waterpark and one of the few remaining working antique carousels - both areas have free entertainment most weeknights. This area alos boasts LONG BEACH ISLAND, 10 miles of natural dune beach with self-guided trails, bathing pavilions, interpretative centers, and nature walks. LONG BEACH ISLAND offers a relaxing seashore vacation most of its 20 off-shore miles, but features an activity vortex in BEACH HAVEN with fine dining, Surflight Theatre (offering Broadway musicals), Fantasy Island Amusement Park, museums, watersports galore, Thundering Surf Waterpark with its, new this season, surf rider pool and fine and fun dining. ON THE MAINLAND there are diverse actives which include three SIX FLAG parks: Great Adventure Theme Park with a dozen different roller coasters and many shows, Hurricane Harbor Water Park and the Wild Animal Drive-through Safari, the largest outside of Africa. To learn about those who lived, recreated and worked on the area's waterways visit the TUCKERTON SEAPORT. To relax with a glass of fine wine, visit New Egypt's LAURITA WINERY. For more action, take in a pro baseball game with the A-Affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Lakewood BlueClaws or catch the dirt track adventure of New Egypt Speedway. And if you are planning to stay for a week or more, we are centrally located from Atlantic City (1/2-hour drive), Historical Philadelphia (1-1/2 hours), the state Capitiol Trenton (45 minutes) or the bright lights of Broadway in NYC (less than 2-hours). Throughout the county there are outdoor concerts, museums, golf courses, fishing tournaments (one even for garbage fish), nature centers, paddle wheelers, tours and cruises.
