Bethlehem Pennsylvania Tourism At a GlanceBest Time to Visit Bethlehem Pennsylvania Known as the Christmas City, Bethlehem is a spectacular place to visit during the holiday season when historic tours and events showcase the city’s heritage. Horse-drawn carriage rides past historic buildings glowing from their candlelit windows give visitors a sense of the community that founded this city. The Christkindlmarkt festival in November and December offers arts and crafts from a variety of craftsmen along with food, holiday music and storytelling. First Night, a family-friendly non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve celebration, boasts over a dozen venues with more than 50 musical and magical performances.
Bethlehem is also well known for its popular festivals. During the summer, Bethlehem hosts Musikfest, a 10-day festival of music, food, arts and entertainment. The fall brings Celtic Classic where the Irish, Scottish and Welsh cultures are celebrated with Highland Games, authentic foods and music. Several historic sites dating as far back as the 1700s can be seen on History Walks, one-hour guided walking tours taking place every Saturday from March through December.

Pennsylvania Tourism - Bethlehem Attractions, Activities and Day Trips Bethlehem is nestled in the center of the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, just over the state border from New Jersey. While Bethlehem is one city, it is home to two great downtowns. The historic district offers distinctive shops, fine eateries and museums nestled amidst historic architecture dating back to 1741. Southside Bethlehem, the city’s original shopping hub, has recently been revitalized with unique and eclectic shops, art galleries and an array of ethnic cuisine brimming with culture.
Duffers will enjoy a round of golf at Bethlehem Municipal Golf Club. Families will delight in a performance of the Mock Turtle Marionette Theater. The Banana Factory doesn’t serve fruit but rather serves creativity in this art center with over 28 resident artists displaying their original works in two galleries. Lovers of the arts shouldn’t miss a performance of the internationally acclaimed Bach Choir of Bethlehem with its distinguished soloists. Learn all about the city’s history on a tour hosted by the Historic Bethlehem Partnership of the six properties it manages.
In addition to the festivals and historical attractions mentioned above, Bethlehem also has several parks, theaters, art galleries, music venues, shops and restaurants to more than fill your day, overnight or weekend visit.
