Best Time to Visit Bethlehem Pennsylvania
Known as the Christmas City, Bethlehem is a spectacular place to visit during the holiday season when historic tours and events showcase the city’s heritage. Horse-drawn carriage rides past historic buildings glowing from their candlelit windows give visitors a sense of the community that founded this city. The Christkindlmarkt festival in November and December offers arts and crafts from a variety of craftsmen along with food, holiday music and storytelling. First Night, a family-friendly non-alcoholic New Year’s Eve celebration, boasts over a dozen venues with more than 50 musical and magical performances.

Bethlehem is also well known for its popular festivals. During the summer, Bethlehem hosts Musikfest, a 10-day festival of music, food, arts and entertainment. The fall brings Celtic Classic where the Irish, Scottish and Welsh cultures are celebrated with Highland Games, authentic foods and music. Several historic sites dating as far back as the 1700s can be seen on History Walks, one-hour guided walking tours taking place every Saturday from March through December.

Average Bethlehem Weather
Bethlehem experiences all four seasons giving residents and visitors alike the opportunity to be in the outdoors year round with a different experience each time. During winter the city gets snow which settles beautifully around the Star of Bethlehem illuminated year round on South Mountain. Winter temperatures typically hover around the 20s and 30s but wind chills can make them dip to near zero. Spring brings a warm up and makes the city bloom with average temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Summers in Bethlehem bring out residents and visitors with hot and exciting days in the 80s and 90s and warm yet comfortable evenings in the 70s. One of the most spectacular times to visit eastern Pennsylvania is in the fall when the changing foliage makes the mountainside come alive in hues of red, orange and yellow. Cool temperatures in the 50s and 60s mean that a sweater or light jacket is needed and that winter is not far behind.

Transportation
Bethlehem is accessible by car via Interstates 78 and 476 and US Route 22, by bus and by planes flying into Lehigh Valley International Airport. It is located an hour north of Philadelphia and approximately two-hours west of New York City. Trans-Bridge and Bieber Tourways bus lines offer daily stops in the city. Navigation between Bethlehem and its neighboring cities of Allentown and Easton is available by car, public bus transportation or taxi.
