Atlantic City NJ Tourism and Sightseeing

Atlantic City New Jersey Tourism At a Glance

Best Time to Visit Atlantic City New Jersey

Atlantic City is year-round, full-service destination brimming with world-class accommodations, dining, shopping and spas. Since Atlantic City has become the East Coast's answer to Las Vegas with lots of adult entertainment, shopping, gourmet dining, and glittering casinos, there isnt a bad time to visit. Many visitors choose to visit during the summer months (May-September) to take advantage of the miles of free sandy white beaches and strolling along the world-famous Boardwalk, although Atlantic City is enjoyed all year long.

In-Season Costs

For hotels, about $200 average. Slightly more on weekends and holidays.

Average Atlantic City Weather

July is the warmest month with an average high temperature of 75 degrees. Throughout the summer the heat seldom rises above the mid 80s, and evenings can be cool enough for a light sweater. Expect the most rainfall in August; the only month averaging in excess of four inches of precipitation. Throughout the year an umbrella is a good idea as all the other months average around two to three inches of rain. December, January, and February are indoor months with averages in the low 30s and daytime lows in the 20s. Spring and fall are pleasant but usually too cool for beach-bunnying, and a light jacket or sweater is a post-sundown must.

Transportation

You can ride a bus or train to Atlantic City with the NJ Transit, drive in by car via the Atlantic City Expressway, or fly into the Atlantic City International Airport on Spirit Airlines, AirTran Airways and WestJet (beginning seasonal service October, 2009)
