Fun Things To Do In Twin Cities, MN
Attractions, Sightseeing and Events
Minneapolis is the City by Nature, with fabulous shopping, dining and entertainment next to lakes, parks and a mighty river that brought the city to being.
Experience the city at its best as you walk or bike on 50+ miles of trails along the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway as they pass the Chain of Lakes or enjoy paths winding along the Mississippi River. With over 80 miles of on street and over 80 miles of off-street pathways through scenic parks, downtown and the neighborhoods, this active, lush, green city will impress and urge you outdoors. You can rent bikes April - November from Nice Ride Minnesota at kiosks.
Getting around is a snap using light rail transit, with stops in downtown, at the airport and Mall of America. No matter what the weather, easily travel between many hotels and attractions using the skyway system in downtown.
Diverse ethnic options line Nicollet Avenue’s “Eat Street” and the Warehouse District is the center of downtown’s nightlife; bursting with restaurants and nightclubs. Fine dining options abound at restaurants owned by James Beard Award-winning chefs.
Art, science and history are on display at more than 55 museums in the area and well-known places such as Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Arts and Weisman Art Museum that have made their mark nationally.
Visit the historic Riverfront and Mill District, where Minneapolis got its start in the flour milling industry. You’ll know you’re in a true urban melting pot as you try diverse ethnic dining options that line Nicollet Avenue’s “Eat Street.” The Warehouse District is the center of downtown’s nightlife; bursting with restaurants and nightclubs right outside the gleaming, LEED Silver-Certified Target Field ballpark.
There are outdoor activities for every season and Minneapolitans are active year-round. Bike, boat, water ski, run, cross-country ski, fish (or ice fish!), play and watch team sports from one of our five professional teams. You can be an active participant or spectator in Minneapolis!
No trip to Minneapolis would be complete without souvenirs! Shop along the 13-blocks of pedestrian-friendly Nicollet Mall at Macy’s and the flagship Target store or visit the largest mall in the country, Mall of America – a short ride via the METRO Blue Line train. Plus, there’s no sales tax on apparel and shoes, so bring an extra bag!
There is literally something for everyone here and you will feel right at home with the friendly residents, clean and beautiful downtown and the many amenities that make a trip worth taking!
