Fun Things To Do In Los Angeles, CA
Attractions, Sightseeing and Events
The City of Los Angeles holds many distinctions. LA is the entertainment capital of the world, a cultural mecca boasting more than 300 museums, and a paradise of good weather with over 75 miles of sunny coastline. From tourist attractions like a flourishing Downtown, the Walk of Fame’s collection of stars to trendsetting arts scenes and internationally flavored neighborhoods, Los Angeles is a destination like no other.
In Downtown Los Angeles, visit one of the city’s newest developments – L.A. LIVE. This 5.6 million-square-foot mixed-use development occupies a 27-acre site across from the STAPLES Center. Offering nightlife, restaurants and live music venues, L.A. LIVE is the centerpiece of Downtown.
In Hollywood, visitors can interact with their favorite celebrities at Madame Tussauds Hollywood, or see the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2010. In the NoHo (North Hollywood) Arts District in the San Fernando Valley there is an array of cafes, boutiques and 22 live theaters.
On the Westside of Los Angeles, visit the Wilshire Corridor which is home to Museum Row, with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Craft and Folk Art Museum and the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits.
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), located in one of LA’s coastal communities, is the seventh busiest airport in the world. It reopened its Theme Building’s 360-degree rooftop Observation Deck in 2010. The iconic building, whose architecture is reminiscent of a spaceship, is home to Encounter Restaurant, which recently received a $9.3 million reconstruction. A massive, $737 million renovation of the Tom Bradley International Terminal was also completed in 2010.
To get close to the ocean, be sure to visit Venice Beach or San Pedro, home to LA’s World Cruise Center, the busiest passenger cruise port on the West Coast. While in Venice, check out Muscle Beach, the Skate Dancing plaza and numerous basketball, handball and paddle tennis courts. In San Pedro, you can charter a boat for fishing, enjoy whale watching (seasonal) or wine and dine at Ports O’Call Village.
LA’s regions sparkle with character. Visitors can have breakfast in the San Fernando Valley, visit a museum in the Wilshire Corridor, dine on the Westside, play along the coast, see a performance Downtown or dance the night away at a Hollywood Club – all in one day.
