Brief DescriptionHike the scenic wetlands at Shollenberger Park and experience a variety of habitats that are home to 200 bird species, turtles and other wildlife.
DescriptionShollenberger Park is part of the 500 acre Petaluma Wetlands, and adjoins Alman Marsh and The Ellis Creek Water Recycling Facility. There are approximately nine miles of trails through the wetlands complex, used by bird watchers, hikers, and cyclists. The wetlands features a variety of habitats including both tidal salt marshes and freshwater marshes. More than 100 plant species and 230 bird species have been identified in the wetlands. 35 species nest there in spring. Docent-led tours are offered regularly and trail guides are available at the park entrance to Shollenberger or Ellis Creek.
