Description | The Rice County Historical Society(RCHS) operates the Rice County Museum of History with area history exhibits on topics ranging from Mamouth bones and stone tools, to Native American artifact, to farming and history of industy of the county. The museum's research center is a good tool for those doing geneological reserach. The grounds include three historic pioneer buildings which were moved to the museum site from around the county: an 1850s log cabin, the Pleasant Valley School organized in 1857, and the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church built in 1869. The RCHS also owns and operates the Alexander Faribault House, a Greek revival home built in 1853 and the first frame home in the Cannon River Valley. Alexander Faribault was the founder of the city which bears his name. The Faribault House diplays a few pieces of furniture and other items from Rice County families as well as a few pieces from the Faribault family. The Faribault House is open by appointment.
