Description | Glaciers formed Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon hundreds of years ago. Today Pine Creek winds its way one thousand feet below the Canyon's rim, fed by streams tumbling form the moutains on either side. 300,000 acres of mostly state-owned land surround the Canyon. At its deepest point, the Canyon is 1450 deep and nearly one mile wide. 42- mile Rail Trail in basin of Canyon is a multi-use trail for hiking, bicycling, and cross country skiing. Many scenic vistas offer spectular views. Bordered by Leonard Harrison State Park and Colton Point State Park, both of which offer spectacular scenic overlooks. Recreational opportunities include hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, snowmobiling, rafting and canoeing. Beautiful historic Wellsboro is located just 10 miles away and offers many fine restaurants and accommodations. |
