| Description | Open 365 days a year, the Newport Aquarium offers exhibits and galleries that will interest the entire family. Start your day with the free Penguin Parade on the plaza in front of the Aquarium or inside the lobby during inclement weather. As the Aquarium is located on the Ohio River, one of the 70 exhibits is called the "Ohio Riverbank and you will get a glimpse of the Ohio River behind a winding 53-foot acrylic wall. Other exhibits include the jellyfish Gallery, Amazon Flooded Forest, Shark Central, Gator Bayou and the new Penguin Palooza. The popular cold penguin exhibit reopened in March of 2011 as Penguin Palooza. New features include two new species, the Rockhopper penguins and, for the first time, flying birds. Six Inca Terns will join the penguins. With a new habitat and a new show, the penguins have become even more popular. Come explore the 70 exhibits and 14 galleries. Walk the five seamless acrylic tunnels totaling over 200 feet in length to be surrounded by aquatic life from around the world. |
