| Description | Located in historic downtown Horse Cave, Kentucky (I-65, Exit 58), Hidden River Cave offers visitors of all ages an opportunity to discover the unique, fragile world of caves. A one-hour walking tours takes visitors a 150' underground where they travel along a boardwalk over the active underground river and hear the fascinating story of Hidden River Cave's restoration. For the more adventuresome, experienced guides take participants on a 2 to 5 hour wild caving tour along Hidden River Cave's upstream section. Doning helmets, these "cave explorers" visit pristine areas of the cave where they encounter eyeless crayfish and delicate soda straws. A tour of Hidden River Cave also includes a self-guided walk through the American Cave Museum, where the story of the caves and the people of Kentucky's cave region comes alive. The Museum is the national headquarters of the American Cave Conservation Association. Group rates and specialized programs for schools, scouts and church groups are avaiable. Reservations are required only for the long wild caving adventure tour. Call (270)786-1466, for caving adventure tour availability and costs. |
