Description | The Evansville African American Museum preserves, honors, and provides education about Evansville's own unique African American culture. It is housed in the last remaining building of Lincoln Gardens, a housing project commissioned under the "New Deal" by FDR. The museum showcases local artists, touring exhibits and preserves the history of the citizens of Baptisttown, an area of Evansville primarily populated by African Americans in the early 20th Century. |
