DescriptionThe Our House Museum, a restored tavern, originally owned by Henry Cushing and his sister Elizabeth, is in Gallipolis. It was the center of the community's social life for many years. General Lafayette, on his triumphant tour of America, was entertained there on Sunday, May 22, 1825. In 1933, Dr. and Mrs. Charles E. Holzer Sr., bought the property and furnished it. In 1936, the house opened as a public museum and was given by the Holzers to the Ohio Historical Society in 1944.
