Fun Things To Do In Helena, MT
Attractions, Sightseeing and Events
Helena, a gold rush town, was a “Last Chance” for 4 gold miners who struck it rich in 1864. Since then, Helena’s expanded to becoming the Montana state capital with museums – including the Original Governor’s Mansion and capitol building; family friendly ExplorationWorks, a museum of science and culture and the Carousel; the Montana Historical Museum, the “state’s” museum; as well as the cultural icons of the Grandstreet Theater for live plays, the Archie Bray Foundation and its impact on ceramics and the Holter Museum of Art. Located near the Continental Divide, hiking, mountain biking, fishing and rafting are located minutes from town. For an interesting overview of the town’s history, the Last Chance Tour Train travels through town and time with its narrated tour of historic buildings.
