| Description | The Shawnee Hill Wine Trail is a collection of wineries along a 30 mile "trail" through the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. Various events are hosted by the individual wineries and by the Wine Trail Association throughout the year. Most wineries have picnic areas and offer wine for sale by the glass or bottle.
The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail is open year-round and most wineries offer their wines in shops throughout Illinois. The wine trail is best experienced over a two day period and there are many B&Bs, hotels, and campgrounds nearby. A list may be found at www.shawneewinetrail.com/lodging.htm
The Shawnee Hills Wine Trail encourages responsible consumption and offers a designated driver program. Designated drivers have free soda and water available at every winery on the trail. Please designate a driver.
