Name | Peninsula Community Theatre |
Brief Description | A historic theatre with a five-production season. |
Type | Attraction |
Category | Coastal Virginia Culture |
Description | In 1994, Peninsula Community Theatre (PCT) bought the Village Theatre, an art deco movie house that was a landmark in historic Hilton Village (Author William Styron worked there as a lad!). Since then PCT has refurbished nearly every square inch, including the neon letters (VILLAGE) that were lost to a hurricane.
Peninsula Community Theatre offers two musicals, comedies and dramas each year in their five-production season (August-May). Their Children's Theatre also features five productions. As a community theatre, PCT donates seats to local organizations and sporadically features theatre workshops; they award a yearly scholarship to an area high school senior and give free tours of the theatre to groups (by appointment). |
