Description | The Old Capitol was restored from 1959 to 1961 from the use as the state historical museum. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina damaged the building's roof and flooded the museum. Most of the artifacts and exhibits were safely removed for relocation to a future, all-new Museum of Mississippi History. Restored to is original glory, the Old Capitol returned as a state house museum in 2009. |
