| Description | The Isles of Shoals Steamship Company has been cruisin' through Portsmout Harbor and out to the Isles of Shoals for over 28 years! We offer narrated sightseeing tours daily and is the perfect getaway for families looking to experience Portsmouth and learn about the area from a unique perspective. Our 348 Passenger Victorian Steamship, The M/V Thomas Laighton, has 3 decks including an open-air top deck.
The vessel also features 2 enclosed decks with plenty of seating for you and your party just in case the elements arent to your liking! The boat also features a galley snack bar where guests can purchase lighter fare such as hot dogs, pizza, hot pretzels, nachos, chips, candy, and more! Guests are of course welcome to bring their own bag lunch or small cooler on board if they would like. Just no glass bottles or alcohol please! The Thomas Laighton also features 3 fully stocked bars with delicious local brews on draft.
Along the way passengers encounter 3 different lighthouses, an old naval prison, 2 historic forts, the oldest working Naval Shipyard in the country, an original grand hotel & of course... the legendary Isles of Shoals. The Isles of Shoals are 9 islands located about 8 miles off the coast of Maine and New Hampshire. Star Island, one of the largest isles, plays host to our Star Island Walking Tour and Day Visit excursions. These tours allow guests to depart the vessel and explore the island at their own leisure. Guests on board these trips can take part in an optional guided walking tour by our own native historian if they choose! |
