Description | In August of 2002, Albany residents and visitors were introduced to the newly constructed Hudson River Way (HRW) and the Albany Riverfront Park. The HRW is a pedestrian bridge that connects downtown Albany to the Albany Riverfront Park. The Hudson River Way is paved with individually purchased engraved bricks and is the location of an interpretive walking tour developed and managed by the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The recent enhancement of the Albany Riverfront Park added a new amphitheatre, floating docks, and a visitor's center. The Riverfront Park is now home to the Alive at Five summer concert series, the Riverfront Jazz Concert, and is used for many public benefit walks/runs and festivals. Efforts are currently underway for the second phase of development, which will create more festival space, improve the shoreline, and increase recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. |
