Description | Study of the human figure is one of the oldest, and most difficult, themes in the visual arts. It is believed that figure drawing was studied as early as prehistoric times and that, even then, nude models were used. Most other subjects do not have to be drawn perfectly to look authentic, but even the slightest error in human proportions is easily detectable. Figural drawing a study that requires years of practice and, for many artists, becomes a life-long study. Body Work represents many forms of this study.
Participating artists for this show are Michael Baum, David Caricato, Joel Carpenter, Dennis Dalton, Mark Dixon, Tom Heany, Marica Hefti, Susan Johnson, Jeff Kouri, Geof Lasko, Nancy Morse, Terri Rowan, Rita Scafidi, and Larry Swanson.
