Description | Created in 1947, the ALLEY THEATRE is a resident theatre under the direction of Artistic Director Gregory Boyd. The Alley performs year-round in its two-theatre complex and its productions have been seen on Broadway, in 40 American cities, and abroad. Recipient of the 1996 Tony Award, the Alley is one of the few U.S. theatres to maintain a resident acting company. Alley premieres include Edward Albee (The Play About the Baby), Tennessee Williams (Not About Nightingales), Horton Foote (whose The Carpetbagger's Children was commissioned and premiered by the Alley and seen at Lincoln Center), and Eve Ensler (Lemonade).
