Area Overview
The largest city in Whitman County is Pullman which is home to Washington State University, the National Lentil Festival, local craftsmen, fine cuisine, fun shopping and friendly folk.
The surrounding area is known as the Palouse region of Southeast Washington where rich farmland, rolling hills, rural communities and hidden treasures are found all along the way. Speckled among the hills are majestic buttes with some spectacular panoramic vistas and wildlife viewing. It's a photographer's dream!

Cultural Activities
|
|
Pullmanites have the option to enjoy a plethora of cultural events and activities provided by departments and clubs from WSU, as well as with the talents of our local community. Residents and visitors alike may enjoy a production at one of our theatres. A neighborhood band might take you home with classic rock or a headliner the likes of Elton John could give you a night to remember.
Beyond that, the Washington Idaho Symphony, the WSU Museum of Art and traveling performances from ballet to circus keep things fluid for the locals.

Palouse Ridge Golf Club is but one of our local golf courses, and is a high ranking 18-hole Scottish links style course. There are 14 parks with over 95 acres of land providing a variety of outdoor activities. Hiking, biking and walking are all around and water sports are not far at all.

Transportation |
|
The fixed routes are currently providing over a million four hundred thousand rides annually, mostly to university students. Our expanded service is Monday – Saturday with hours of operation Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Saturday hours of operation from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. during the WSU school year and 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the remainder of the year with modified service on most major holidays. The A and E routes serve north Pullman, the university, and the downtown area; I and J routes serve the south side of town, the university, and downtown area. The Express Routes provide service between the WSU campus and the student housing areas located to the north. The Night service provides limited service to areas of the north and south sides of Pullman. We also provide morning and afternoon service to Pullman School District students.
Our Dial-A-Ride provides paratransit van service to elderly and disabled patrons. Dial-A-Ride operates during the same times that the bus routes operate.

We own four distinct seasons featuring warm, dry summers followed by cold, snowy winters with short spring and fall seasons in-between. The beauty of the spring is greatly awaited for the many shades of green seen on the rolling hills surrounding us.
