"I had no idea.” We often hear that from visitors who spend a weekend listening to the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra in the acoustically perfect Kleinhans Music Hall, seeing a touring Broadway production in the opulent Shea’s Performing Arts Center or enjoying nightlife in bars, clubs, classic taverns and live music venues downtown and throughout Buffalo.
Indeed, Buffalo has many of the entertainment and nightlife options of a larger city at a fraction of the price. From performing arts and playhouses to comedy clubs and casinos, we have all sorts of ways to have fun in the Queen City.

Back when Buffalo was a fast growing 19th century boom town, a decision was made that would forever change the city—town planners called in legendary landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, to design our parks and parkways. Buffalo has been running on flower power ever since; the city’s parks and gardens have helped sow the seeds of its rebirth. In fact, each year, Buffalo hosts the nation’s largest private garden walk with over 400 gardens, Garden Walk Buffalo, as part of the six-week-long Garden Walk Buffalo Niagara. And a proper flora tour would not be complete without a visit to the expansive Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens.
For those looking for something wilder, Letchworth State Park and the Tifft Nature Preserve are nearby. Or hike to the eternal flame at Chestnut Ridge, venture to beautiful Akron Falls or camp, cycle or cross-country ski at Sprague Brook – all beautifully maintained county parks. No nature lover could leave town with a clear conscience without having visited the state’s largest Beech tree in Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve. But if nothing less than a natural wonder will do, Niagara Falls State Park never disappoints, while downriver, Devil’s Hole State Park offers stunning views of the Niagara Gorge.
