DescriptionTourists are drawn to Hollywood Cemetery for its historical importance. The Commonwealth of Virginia declared Hollywood Cemetery a historical landmark in 1967, and Hollywood Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Two U.S. Presidents, six Virginia governors, two Supreme Court justices, twenty-two Confederate generals and thousands of Confederate soldiers are buried in the cemetery, as are nationally acclaimed authors and men and women of local significance and prominence. The grounds of Hollywood Cemetery are open to the public, and guided tours are available as well as a printed walker’s guide for individuals desiring to take a tour on their own.
