Getting the winter blues?

New Hampshire has a lot to offer in the winter besides skiing, and snowboarding. Even a coach potato who wouldn’t consider missing a day of sports on TV may be interested in trying something new. There are a few activities you may want to try, to break up the winter blues.

Have you ever wanted to go snowmobiling without having to own the equipment or read the trail guides? Take a guided tour through the White Mts. at Alpine Adventure in Lincoln NH. The adventurous team of guides will provide you with a helmet and a snowmobile for your body size and teach you how to steer and understand common snowmobiling protocol while on the trails. You will then follow the guide on an adventure along the snow covered trails that lead you by several of NH’s most famous tourism areas including the Basin, The Old Man of the Mt., Cannon Mt. and Echo Lake. The scenery is breathtaking as you go through tunnels, over bridges and through the forest. Or, if you are feeling really adventurous, try putting on a harness, riding their swiss army transport to the zip-line canopy tour, which anyone, any age, can conquer. It’s exhilarating and can be done year round. More information.

Outdoor winter adventure not your thing? Well you can have extreme adventure indoors too. Did you know Nashua, NH is the location of one of only a handful of indoor state-of-the-art vertical wind tunnel companies called SkyVenture? You don’t need a parachute or any special equipment to go indoor skydiving. After participating in a 20 minute course on understanding hand signals and how to properly position your body in the wind tunnel, the instructor will provide you with a body suit, knee and elbow pads, helmet, ear plugs and safety goggles.

The trained instructors will ease you into the wind tunnel and you will instantly begin to fly. As you get comfortable with the total lack of gravity, you will find yourself wishing you could learn the skills and tricks that the professional instructors perform with ease. No need to worry about hitting walls or the trampoline floor, as the trainer will be with you at all times, and showing you how to improve your skills. More information.
