Pack your binoculars and experience one of the most spectacular songbird migrations in the country. The region includes more than 15 areas designated by Audubon as “Important Bird Areas.” Angler’s relish the lake because there are many ways to fish the “Walleye Capital of the World.” Choose a private charter that includes all the necessities, or a walk-on charter. There are also dozens of options for those who prefer fishing from shore.
Summer is the time to enjoy Cedar Point’s thrilling rides and beach-front family resort. Known as the “roller coaster capital of the world”, Cedar Point is full of excitement. Sandusky is also home to five indoor waterpark resorts including the country’s largest, Kalahari Resort. These under-one-roof resorts feature family activities, fine dining, unique shopping, and spas ensuring a good time no matter the weather.
The Lake Erie islands provide a relaxing change of pace. On Kelleys Island, rent bicycles or golf carts and cruise to the world’s largest example of glacial scoring, then wade in the shallow waters of the state park beach. On South Bass Island, take the Put-in-Bay tour train for a narrated tour with stops at many island attractions, including the Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial, standing 352 feet tall.

Transportation |

The Sandusky-Perkins Area Ride Connection (SPARC) is a point deviation route traveling throughout the city and to places of business along US 250 in Sandusky. There are also ferries that run to Kelleys Island, Middle Bass Island, and South Bass Island.
