Description | The Zora Neale Hurston Dust Tracks Heritage Trail outlines the places where the noted writer lived, worked and played during the final years of her life in Fort Pierce. Hurston, author of “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” is credited as the leader of the Harlem Renaissance movement.
Consisting of three double-sided kiosks that map the trail as well as the places where she worked in the State of Florida and the Caribbean, the Zora Neale Hurston trail is one of the few heritage trails in the state. An additional eight decorative signs at trail sites mark her last residence, the home of The Chronicle (a black weekly newspaper that she wrote for), as well as her gravesite.
