Description | History is relived at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. Antique Shay steam logging locomotives power trains that take visitors back in time to the gold rush days when railroads help build America. Log trains were common to the
mountains of California, hauling the timber to help build the golden state. Great lumber flumes delivered the fresh cut
boards from the mountain mills to the valleys below.
The Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad operates in the Sierra National Forest on a one hour narrated excursion through the mountains just south of Yosemite National Park. At the station you will find an 1856 museum, gold panning, gift shops and picnic area. The Moonlight Special operates Wednesday and Saturday nights in summer and includes a delicious BBQ steak dinner, live music around the campfire and a spectacular evening steam train ride.
