| Description | Whitewater Excitement is a family owned and operated company based on the beautiful banks of the South Fork of the American river in Coloma, CA. The owner, Phillip Schoenhoff, took over WWE 4 years ago from his father, Norm. He has worked as a guide, manager 10 years before taking over. He shares the same commitment to excellence that his dad did. His drive to share that passion with others has created a group of the most loyal guests in the industry.
Excitement’s experienced guides skillfully navigate the various forks of the American river as well as the Merced river to offer a range of whitewater from mild to wild. Cool off and relax on the hot summer evenings with a sunset adventure on the class 2 Confluence run, bring the whole family to splash through the rapids on the class III South Fork, brave the chutes and drops on the class 4 Middle Fork all summer long, or really get your adrenaline going with the raging class 4+ spring rivers, the North Fork and Merced. Whatever your adventure level, they’ll help find the perfect trip for you!
They offer from ½ day up to 3 day trips, with a private campground to relax at in the evenings and state-of-the-art bathrooms, a volley ball court, calm eddies to swim in, a camp store for all those necessities, and cabin tents for those who want all the comforts of home while sleeping in the outdoors. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, they are also one of the few companies that runs an overnight wilderness trip on the Middle Fork of the American…it is a few less rapids per day, but the hikes are incredible and camping out under the stars in the gorgeous canyon is breath taking. No matter what trip you pick, the staff will spoil and stuff you with their savory meals, while entertaining you with stories, history lessons, and plenty of jokes!
