Area Overview
Unadilla is located on the Susquehanna River near the junction of Delaware, Otsego and Chenango Counties. The name “Unadilla” is derived from an Indian word that means “Place of Meeting” and refers to the original site of the village at the juncture of the Unadilla and Susquehanna Rivers.
The Village of Unadilla is located in the Town of Unadilla, which is the most southwesterly municipality in Otsego County. It is about 50 miles northeast of Binghamton, and 20 miles southwest of Oneonta. Cooperstown, the county seat, is less than an hour to the northeast by local roads, and the state capital of Albany is about ninety minutes away on interstate 88-E. Unadilla has a chamber of commerce, historical association, rotary club, foundation, fire department, recreational fields and parks, 5 churches, and elementary and high school. It is also home to Boy Scout Troop 1 (first boy scout troop in the US).
Unadilla has crafters, artists and a large variety of businesses. The Chamber of Commerce publishes and annual directory that informs visitors of all that Unadilla has to offer and people to contact. Village website: www.villageofunadilla.com and Chamber: www.unadillachamber.com

Summer and fall.
|
Spring is usually wet, cool and breezy. Good for walking, biking and kit flying. Summers are warm and sunny and good for nights at the drive-in, boating and swimming at the lake, or canoeing and fishing on the river. Fall is warm to cool and good for harvest fests, biking, hiking, kyaking, and antiquing. Winter offers the opportunity for ice fishing, cross country skying, iceskating and enjoying the local eateries and cultural activities.
