Shikellamy State Park and Lake Augusta Bridge Avenue Sunbury, PA 17801-1005 570-988-5557 www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/findapark/shikellamy/index.htm The 54-acre Shikellamy Marina is on the southern tip of Packers Island at the confluence of the West Branch and North Branch Susquehanna River and offers hiking and biking trails, a marina and boat launch. Boating on a portion of the Susquehanna River, known as Lake Augusta, a 3,060-acre lake formed by the world’s largest inflatable dam that is two miles downstream from the park. The seasonal lake averages six feet in depth and is a popular water-skiing area. The 78-acre Shikellamy Overlook is on the western shore of the Susquehanna River. A 360-foot cliff overlooks the confluence of the branches of the Susquehanna River. The overlook is closed in the winter season.
Walker Lake For fishing and boating (electric motors only), the 239-acre Walker Lake near Troxelville in western Snyder County, is excellent. The lake and shoreline are owned and managed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Current species include northern pike, largemouth bass, walleye, black crappie, and bluegill. Fishing is also popular at nearby Faylor Lake, a 140-acre resource near Beaver Springs.

The northern half of the park has day use facilities and the southern half remains in a wooded state for hiking and nature study.
Dale/Engle/Walker House 1471 Strawbridge Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837 570-522-0487 www.UnionCountyHistoricalSociety.org Dale-Engle-Walker House is a 1793 Georgian limestone house built by Samuel Dale, a Scot-Irish immigrant who served under George Washington at the Battle of Princeton in the American Revolution. This is reminiscent of the times and has ties to slavery and the Underground Railroad. The house offers three stations one can experience as they visit the property.

This museum features artifacts recovered during various archaeological digs on the site, and extensive historical and genealogical library. Two fort features, the well and the powder magazine, remain on the grounds. Discover the 1/6 scale model of Old Fort Augusta built in 1756. Visit the museum of historical and archeological artifacts on display from Northumberland County and research your roots at our extensive genealogical library.

Frederick was a blacksmith, surveyor, Union County Commissioner, Justice of the Peace, and a founder of the Reformed Church.

Central PA has cold winters with moderate snowfall amounts. Spring in PA tends to be cold and rainy in March and April. May brings much better weather with mild temperatures and a lot more sunshine. Summer in central PA is very pleasant, with many days that are warm without being uncomfortably hot. Autumn is generally delightful especially in the early months. September and October bring lots of perfect sunny days and mild temperatures, with beautiful fall foliage. Leaves turn brilliant colors in October.
