Smith County offers a variety of outdoor activities.
Caney Fork River—Noted as the best trout river East of the Mississippi and Ideal Class I scenic river for canoeing and kayaking.
Cumberland River—Home to some of the largest striped bass caught on record. Fishing guide services, picturesque sightseeing tours, and bald eagles viewing are among some of the most popular activities.
Cordell Hull Lake - Covering over 12,000 acres, this beautiful lake wings its way through some of the most breathtaking sections of Smith County. The lake is home to numerous campgrounds and is known for its fun boating, fishing, and skiing.
Hiking - The Bearwaller Gap Trail has been touted as one of the best hiking trails in Middle Tennessee. A little over 6 miles, it can be taken as a day hike, but also has a primitive campsite for overnight backpackers too.
Mountain Biking - Bear Wheels Trail has brought mountain bike enthusiasts to Smith County from all across the country. The trails meander along the edge of beautiful Cordell Hull Lake.
Agritourism - From apple orchards, vineyards, strawberry patches and pumpkin mazes, the farming families of Smith County have opened their homes so visitors can experience and taste directly from the farm.

Attractions

The variety of attractions in Smith County include many historic sites. Houses that were built as early as the 1700s. Several sites are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We have the beautiful Cordell Hull Lake with a marina and campgrounds. A new winery to the area is Cellar 53 Winery located in the community of Brush Creek.
