Things to Do

Recreation & Fitness

A visit to Plymouth County can include (among so many other things) a whale watch adventure that guarantees sightings, an in-depth conversation on any variety of subjects with a “Pilgrim”, discovering what was actually in on the Mayflower, a Paddlewheeler cruise into Cape Cod Bay, a tour of the Cape Cod Canal, an opportunity to harvest cranberries, touching a piece of Plymouth Rock, viewing the largest solid granite monument in the country, a ride through Christmas lights on a narrow-gauge railroad or a candlelight dinner aboard a train, a warm & fuzzy stay at an inviting B&B, a stroll along a 3-mile beach or perhaps a Thanksgiving Dinner where the holiday originated! These are just a few of the itinerary suggestions offered in a County where History is Just the Beginning… where will your visit begin?

Cultural Activities

Each Plymouth County area has both history and art & culture museums. Free summer concerts take place in Plymouth & the Village of Onset in Wareham, Art Museums are located in Cohasset, Duxbury, Norwell & Plymouth. Along with Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton's Historical Society celebrates its shoe industry and it's boxing champions; Rocky Marciano and Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Brockton has a Symphony Orchestra and Plymouth a Philharmonic Orchestra celebrating its 100th anniversary.
There's also an annual Plymouth folk concert.

Attractions

Perhaps the most visually stimulating effect Plymouth County offers is its miles and miles of Atlantic coastline. Dotted with lighthouses and coastal villages it presents the images that make for beautiful photos and lasting memories. Although closely associated with its neighbors; Boston & Cape Cod, it is a destination in and of itself and its humble beginnings and middle-class heritage often make it a more affordable “home away from home” when touring southeastern New England.

Transportation

Commuter rail service on The Old Colony Line to and from Boston and P&B bus service is available 7 days a week to and from Boston. P&B also offers twice-a-day service to and from Providence with limited service within the County. GATRA bus transportation within greater Plymouth is available Monday-Saturday. We advise contacting VERC Rent-A-Car to best enjoy your time in the region.
