Philipsburg and Anaconda are the core of the Pintler Scenic Route. This area is blessed with year-round recreation opportunities, scenic splendor and of course, plenty of history. Founded in 1866 as a trading center, Philipsburg now boasts a National Historic District and one of the most lovingly restored street fronts you’ll see anywhere. Anaconda was founded by Marcus Daly in 1883. He became one of the world’s wealthiest men by supplying copper for electrical and telephone wiring in the late 19th century. Today, Anaconda is part of the nation’s largest National Historic Landmark District.

With the open mountains and blue water fly fishing streams, you can enjoy lots of outdoor activities while visiting the region. Philipsburg offers sapphire mining, a ghost town, a micro-brewery and many shops to peruse during the day. Georgetown lake is just minutes away offering boating, fishing and camping. Anaconda has a top 100 rated public golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Cultural Activities





We have live theatre during the summer months, an amphi-theatre for concerts, a county museum with a recreated mining town as well as a Law Enforcement museum. Our local brewery has live music every Friday and Saturday night and other venues will host musicians from time-to-time.

Attractions






The Philipsburg/Anaconda area offers attractions that appeal to all ages. The main draw to Philipsburg is the sapphires that can be mined at several locations. There is a local brewery to quench your thirst and trails to ride your quad on and explore the back country. With 2 museums in town, antiques stores, quaint shopping district and large candy store, there is something for everyone. Georgetown lake is a high mountain lake that provides great ice fishing in winter, boating and fishing in the summer and great views year-round.

Summer and fall.

Sunny most of the time, winter can provide the snow covered trees you're looking for while summer is generally mild. Early spring is beautiful as everything greens up along the creeks and rivers winding through the valley.
