Things to Do

Recreation & Fitness

Highlights of the Monona area include numerous water recreational opportunities including paddling, boating, skiing, and fishing in both summer and winter.

The Monona Lake Loop is the most popular bike route in the Madison area. It's a 12 mile loop that passes through downtown Madison and hugs the shore of Lake Monona. Renting a B-cycle is a great option if you're traveling without a bike! Numerous bike shops are located on the loop as well for rentals or repairs.

We're ideally situated between the lake and beautiful forests and prairies. Hiking options are unlimited! Consider Lake Farm Park, Capital Spring State Recreation Area or the Nine Springs E-way as very accessible options.

The Aldo Leopold Nature Center provides some excellent information through hands-on, high tech exhibits. Numerous Indian mounds exist throughout Monona and you can learn about them at the nature center.

Additionally, the Historic Dean House provides a glimpse of life in Wisconsin for an 1800's farm family. Tours are free on Sundays in the summer.
