Area Overview
Founded by the Graham Companies in the 1960's, The Town of Miami Lakes was developed as a master planned community. Out growing its farm town roots, the Town of Miami Lakes eventually incorporated as its own city, on December 9, 2000.
Miami Lakes is located in Southeast Florida, in the Northwest section of Miami Dade County. As its name implies, Miami Lakes is known for its beautiful tree lined streets, magnificent homes, and its neighborhood lakes.

Apart from the activities noted, the Town of Miami Lakes offers 101 local community parks, 3 community centers (including 1 dedicated youth center), 6 lake front beaches, and a fresh water marina.
Within its park system, the Town of Miami Lakes offers year round soccer, baseball, football, and archery. Its parks programming also offers specialized classes for young and "young at heart" including; tai-chi, yoga, computer classes, arts and crafts, table tennis, duplicate bridge, dominoes, canasta, Spanish, and "A Matter of Balance".
Located within the Town, Shula's Golf Course offers a professionally designed golf course with instructors and classes for all skill levels.
The Town of Miami Lakes offers a uniquely designed play ground for those whom are limited in mobility. The Mathew Palacios Playground was uniquely designed to meet the needs of all children regardless of their limitations.

Cultural Activities

The Cultural Affairs Committee works to establish a cultural identity in the Town by developing a climate of art, music, theatre, and other recreational activities. The committee hosts the Jazz in the Park Concert, Paint a Picture for Mom, Symphony of the Americas Summerfest, Fourth of July Concert, Black History Month Concert, and the Holiday Book Reading.
The Town of Miami Lakes is home to the Main Street Players, a Community Theater formed to encourage, promote, and develop interest in the arts and to produce plays and other forms of live theater to enhance the cultural level of the community.

The Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club is a classic style course, sprawling over 500 tree shaded acres. Players of all skill levels will be challenged by 18 holes, Par 72 championship course. Known as one of Miami’s best Championship Golf Courses, The Senator Course is unlike the typical hotel golf course. Originally designed of Bill Watts in 1962 and later updated in 1998 by nationally recognized Golf Course Architect Kipp Schulties, is the perfect destination for great golf. The Golf Club, a unique property in a true country club setting, has a driving range and practice area. Shula’s Golf Club is home to The Original Shula’s Steak House, “One of America’s Best”, upscale dining, celebrating the 1972 undefeated season of the Miami Dolphins
Main Street, an open-air mall in the center of Miami Lakes, offers shopping, dining and entertainment for Miami Lakes and the surrounding communities. It is a great place for all ages to enjoy a day or evening out – shop, catch a movie or play, dine, or soak in a cultural experience at one of its many weekend events or festivals.

The Town of Miami Lakes continues to embody its motto: "Growing Beautifully." Nurturing its commitment to green living, the Town of Miami Lakes operates the Miami Lakes Moover on two routes throughout town! This FREE bus operates as a fixed-route circulator providing connections to existing Metrobus stops and Metrorail, via the Ludlam Limited Route, with a terminal point at Main Street. The Miami Lakes Moover runs Monday through Friday during peak morning (6:00-10:00AM) and peak evening (2:15-7:00PM) travel periods circulating every 35-40 minutes.
