Area Overview
With 371 miles of shoreline, every city and town on the Kitsap Peninsula is located on the waterfront. Charming towns overlook scenic bays, coves, inlets and majestic mountains and are lined with little shops, art galleries, eateries and public spaces and parks. The region is a 30- or 60-minute scenic ferry ride from Seattle via the popular WA State Ferry. The region is also accessible via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

Kitsap Peninsula is a great place to enjoy the arts and culture year-round. Of special interest in the region's maritime and Naval history, Native American heritage,and world-class gardens. With so many communities, visitor will always find some type of entertainment from free concerts in the park to live musical and acting performances at local theaters and dining places. Kitsap Loves Kids, too, with undersea, bug and puppet museums. The historic USS Turner Joy, Puget Sound Naval Museum, mothballed Kitty Hawk and dozens of military memorials offer lots to see and do for military veterans and enthusiasts.

Transportation |

Visitors can enjoy a ride on the famous and popular, WA State Ferries. Four routes serve the Kitsap Peninsula; Seattle-Bainbridge Island; Seattle-Bremerton; Edmonds-Kingston; West-Seattle/Vashon - Southworth. Kitsap Transit offers public bus service. The Kitsap Peninsula offers pretty good weather all year round. There are four distinct seasons but each is very moderate. Summer temperature range from the high 60's-mid 80's. For a few days temperature may reach into the upper 90's. Fall begins in September with the changing of the leaves and start of harvest festivals. The holiday's are mild and it rarely snows though it can be a bit rainy and windy offering great reasons to tour museums, art galleries and attend performances. The first of the year and spring offer a mix of weather. The day can start of a bit grey and then turn bright with big white clouds and blue skies. Closer to April and May, the trees are blooming and offer great opportunities for walks in the woods and along sandy beaches to view wildlife.

Visitors will find nearly every type of lodging option on the Kitsap Peninsula. Many of the hotels are located on the water and have waterfront views. There are many, smaller, local hotels that are very affordable and family friendly. The Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort is the region's destination hotel with stunning waterfront view suites and access to several restaurants and live entertainment. There are also vacation homes, state parks offering camping and some RV parks.
