Harrison is a rural community located on US-127 in Michigan. Traditionally a tourist town and retirement area, Harrison is a great location for anyone wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a more quiet, meaningful way of life.

There are many restaurants featuring Italian, Chinese, and American food, plus lots of Mom and Pop stores to browse, or for a quick stop in to get your daily essentials. Since Harrison is located on a major US highway, you are not far from a Wal-Mart, movie theater, or whatever else you might be looking for.

Recreation & Fitness

The City of Harrison attracts thousands of visitors from throughout the state, with its "twenty lakes in twenty minutes" and large amount of state land for recreational sports.

The biggest local events are the Clare County Fair and Frostbite Winter Festival which features Golf on the Ice of Budd Lake.

Harrison promises year-round fun for people of all ages!

Cultural Activities

There are several historic buildings in the city of Harrison. The Surrey House is a relic of the lumber town days. The Clare County Newspaper building, located downtown, is the oldest building in Harrison, dating back to 1898. In the heart of downtown is a new Veteran's Memorial Park, which features a building dedicated to the history of Clare County's veterans. And, a few miles out of town, is the Clare County Historical Museum, which features the old school house, museum and more. Finally, Harrison was once the home of John "Spikehorn" Myer's famous "Bear Den", which was open in the 50's and 60's and drew many people from all over. The "Bear Den" property is still located on the corner of Old 27 and M-61.

Attractions

Harrison boasts many activities for outdoor enthusiasts - hiking and biking trails, ATVing and Off-roading, 3 golf courses, skiing at Snow Snake, hunting and fishing. It is a quiet, laid-back locale that is perfect for spending a relaxing weekend at your cabin or campsite...Taking in the bonfire, hanging with friends and family, and looking out at the stars. The local Chamber of Commerce and other organizations plan regular events so that there is never a dull moment or a reason not to "stay and play" in beautiful Harrison!

Transportation

Harrison has a great public bus system which will take you wherever you want to go within the county. They also will pick-up and deliver your medications to your door.
