Area Overview

Greater Binghamton is like a playground for adults – and yet still fun for children – it’s the best of both worlds!

You can hit the greens with your buddies, trek along a trail in the great outdoors with your fishing pole in hand, shop Antique Row for that impossible-to-find replica you’ve been dying for, or capture your kids’ attention for hours at the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier. Tour a cool museum with the whole family, then the countryside on a scenic walking or bike trail. When the stars appear, and so does your urge paint the town red, venture downtown for great restaurants, dance clubs, brew pubs, sports bars and coffee houses.

Get out there and play the day away in Greater Binghamton!

Every “first” Friday of the month you can partake in the “First Friday Art Walk” ~ an event highlighting the numerous art galleries and studios that thrive in Downtown Binghamton.

Cultural Activities

Greater Binghamton is the stage for performing arts that would excite any artistic soul. From the concerted efforts of worldclass orchestras, to soloist divas reaching octaves that could move mountains. Get knocked out by a well delivered joke, catch a play or musical, or peer through
covered eyes at circus acts that would give Isaac Newton vertigo. Time to answer the curtain call and ready your encores, the theatre awaits.

Our city has inspiration in surplus: a lively art scene, both which preserves tradition and historical style, and encourages the fresh, electric voices of new artists. This is a city which celebrates its art and the individuals who create it. Join in on the celebration downtown during our monthly First Friday “art walk,” or visit a gallery and spend the day musing about a masterpiece.
