Area Overview
El Paso’s unspoiled natural beauty is a rarity in today’s fast-paced world. During the day, our mountains take on shades of purple, vibrant orange and pale green under a sun that shines over 305 days a year. Wide-open vistas, big skies and beautiful desert weather are the norm, and almost every day ends with a breathtaking sunset. At night, our city lights look like a scattering of glittering diamonds across an expanse of darkness. The City is not only a great place to work but to live as well. El Paso has ranked America's Safest City for the last four consecutive years and in the top three for the last ten years.
El Paso is also home to Fort Bliss, the fastest-growing U.S. Army installation in the United States and a vital part of the City’s economy. Other pillars of El Paso’s economy include the University of Texas at El Paso and the Medical Center of the Americas, which houses the only four-year medical school located on the U.S./Mexico border.
Includes Cities/Towns: Anthony, Canutillo, Clint, El Paso, Fabens, Fort Bliss, San Elizario, Tornillo.

Cultural Activities
|
|
El Paso has seen many changes to its landscape in the last year with the addition of the nation’s newest Triple-A baseball stadium, which is home to the El Paso Chihuahuas; the San Diego Padres affiliate team. As part of a half billion dollar quality of life bond (approved in November of 2012), the El Paso Museum of History will open the only TouchCity Digital History Wall in the United States in January of 2015. The only other one in the world is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Additionally, a colorful pedestrian pathway, which will connect different sites throughout El Paso’s Downtown Arts District is currently under construction; an enriching Hispanic Cultural Center; an interactive children’s museum; a state-of-the art multi-purpose performing arts and entertainment venue; major improvements to parks and sports tournament sites and the addition of several community “pocket parks” are just a few of the projects that are in the works.
Currently, guests can experience more than 400 years of history on the El Paso Mission Trail, which has three of the oldest continuously-operating missions. They can also take in a concert, film or Broadway show at the historic Plaza Theatre, a restored atmospheric theatre or visit the El Paso Museum of Art, El Paso Museum of History, or El Paso Holocaust Museum; all located downtown.
In addition to being the unofficial “Mexican Food Capital” of the United States, El Paso serves up some of the best steaks at the world renowned Cattleman’s Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch, which is a 30-minute drive from downtown El Paso. This family-style restaurant is situated on a ranch and offers hayride tours of the property, which includes a small-scale zoo and houses sets from several films shot on-site, such as “Courage Under Fire” and “The Getaway”.
While Mexican food and mouthwatering steaks are a rite of passage for El Pasoans, there are several newer restaurants in the Kern Place and Downtown areas that are extremely popular and have garnered attention from a number of magazines and websites. Among them are Rulis’ International Kitchen, Crave Kitchen + Bar, Tabla, and Anson 11 which serve International and American cuisine with an El Paso spin.
