Area Overview

Conway is one of the oldest towns in South Carolina. Originally names Kingston, the town was created in 1732. It was laid out on a riverbluff in the center of Horry County. Conway is only a few miles from the shores of the Atlantic ocean and its Grand Strand. Conway offers a unique alternative to the beach lifestyle with its rich heritage and more relaxed pace. Conway is home to a university, two technical colleges, a state of the art hospital, excellent schools, live theaters, business district, a county museum, art studios, downtown historic district and scenic riverfront. You will be welcomed with open arms and southern hospitality. We love where we live, and so will you.

Conway offers boat and kaiack tours and rentals along the Waccamaw River, along with fishing. Conway has bike and walking trails to enjoy, along with the county's largest Christmas Parade, and extravagant Independence Day festival, recreation center, movie cinemas, live theaters and just minutes away from the beach.

Conway offers a modern library located beside the museum. We have live theaters that perform events throughout the year.
