Klickitat County offers an amazing amount of activities, including world renowned White Water Rafting and Kayaking and phenomenal bicycling and sight seeing! For the active visitor, spend your days hiking or biking amazing trails with views of the Columbia River Gorge, Mt. Adams and two of Washington's wild scenic rivers - the White Salmon and Klickitat Rivers.
Fishing and hunting are huge draws throughout the year, with a tremendous variety of salmon, steelhead, sturgeon and other fish. The region also boast a healthy population of deer, elk, turkey, bear, mountain lion and other wild animals that both hunters and photographers will be excited about!
If your goal is just to relax and take in the views, you won't be disappointed...take in the region's amazing wines and beers or dine in the towns of White Salmon, Bingen or Lyle overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, enjoy a massage at a local spa and spend the night is a lovely B&B in Husum near the White Salmon River or in Trout Lake with amazing views of Mt. Adams.
Mt. Adams also offers year round activities from winter sports such as Nordic Skiing or snowmobiling, mountain climbing, rustic camping, bicycling and huckleberry picking in the summertime!

The artistic community in the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Adams region is amazing! Independent artists join together open their studios to the public several times a year for a personal tour of their work - the community is filled with painters, jewelers, and wood & metal artists.
The area holds several small heritage museums as well as the world class Maryhill Museum of Art, which holds a sizeable collection by Auguste Rodin along side of Native American artifacts and art from the Queen Marie of Romania all packaged together in a beautiful hilltop mansion overlooking the massive Columbia River.
And just down the road is the Maryhill Winery which has a fantastic outdoor amphitheater that houses summer concerts with international musicians and they offer wonderful music selections on the terrace during the weekends to go perfectly with your glass of wine!

Transportation |

Just one hour away from the Portland International Airport and the Portland OR/Vancouver WA metropolitan areas make Klickitat County and the Columbia River Gorge / Mt. Adams region easily accessible for travelers. Train travel is available as Amtrak routes through the Gorge on the Washington side and has a stop in Bingen just below White Salmon and across from Hood River, Oregon.

Outdoor activities are available year round and summer is packed with visitors from around the globe who don't want to miss out on an amazing white water rafting adventures, wind surfing or kite boarding! Hikers and those out for the sights can enjoy activities year round, with Springtime being very popular as the wild flowers begin to bloom in March and continue through May/June. The generally mild weather of the region makes the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Adams region a particularly sought after vacation destination.
