Area Overview

Where industrial meets prairie is one way to describe Cedar Falls. Our rapidly expanding industrial park is surrounded by prairie and even a cornfield or two. Our downtown district is a thriving little metropolis, boasting live theatre and a historic hotel, boutique shops in century old buildings, lots of local restaurants and museums within walking distance, as well as great nightlife offerings.You can watch a Broadway show in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Art Center. Cedar Falls is a college town, too, home to the University of Northern Iowa. We also offer 110-plus miles of paved trails, plus an abundance of soft trails and water trails.

Recreation & Fitness

Home to the northernmost point on the American Discovery Trail, the county offers 110+ miles of hard-surfaced recreational trails. We also offer soft rails and water trails. Our historic downtown is full of boutique shops, local restaurants and nightclubs. Live threatre and music is in abundance.

Cultural Activities

Named among the National Historic Trust’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations, downtown Cedar Falls offers a charming mix of locally owned shops, eateries and nightlife. We have a flavorful mix of eateries, where the locally owned restaurant spots may actually outnumber the regional ones. Cedar Falls offers broadway live theatre in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performings Arts Center, plus lively and fun plays by the local theatre group at the Oster Regent Theatre. The University of Northern Iowa calls Cedar Falls home and and also offers live theatre, musical performances, lectures and continuing education.

Attractions

Our attractions are an award-winning eclectic mix of something for everyone. From an outdoor nature reserve and miles upon miles of paved trails, to a completely restored downtown district, to a nationally renowned performing arts center we really offer something for the entire family or a couples getaway or girl's weekend out.

Transportation

Within our metro area we offer a regional bus service and taxis. We are near tow major airports, one right here - the other about 55 miles away.

Spring temperatures are cold with averages in the upper 40's and highs in the upper 50's. Nights are cold with lows in the upper 30's. Summer temperatures are mild with averages in the low 80's and highs in the low 90's. Nights are mild with lows in the low 60's to 70's. Fall temperatures are cool with averages in the upper 50's and highs in the low 60's. Nights are cool with lows in the upper 40's. Accommodations

We have a great selection of hotels, clean and affordable. Our campgrounds are well kept and offer tent and camper availability. We have RV parks, too.
