Carroll County is a drive in the country. Discover historic landmarks, wineries, shops and restaurants as you explore Carroll County's gentle rolling hills and alongside clear, blue waters. The countryside is abundant with farms offering scenes rich with cattle. horses, alpacas and even buffalo.
With no four lane highways, the drive is part of the experience. Carroll county's beautiful countryside is a feast for the eyes, especially in the fall.

Things to Do

Recreation & Fitness

Atwood and Leesville Lakes offer marinas, swimming, camping, cabins, hiking and boat rentals. Upland Valley Sporting Clays or the Fields Bird Preserve offer outdoors men a place to hone their skills. There is also over 3,000 acres of public hunting grounds in the county.
There are no cities in the county so you will find that small town charm in every village in the county. Carrollton the county seat, is home to several museums, antique stores and even an old time 5&10 store and more. Minerva also is a great village to visit.
Carroll County is home to 11 youth camps that kids learn about nature, God, basketball, or scouts.

Cultural Activities

Carrollton is home to the McCook House Civil War Museum, an Ohio Historical Society Museum. It has multiple displays on the Civil War and the McCooks (Daniel McCook and his brother and their 14 sons all fought for the North during the war.) There also is the Ashton House Museum which features local and retailing history. Bluebird Farm Susie's Museum of Childhood is a private collection of over 1500 dolls and toys that span three centuries.
Carroll County Arts Center is the local outlet for more than 60 local artisans to sell their work.

Attractions

Atwood Lake Park offers swimming, both RV and primitive camping, with trails and special events like the Alive Christian Music Festival held in July. The Algonquin Mill Complex takes you back to the mid 1800's with its village setting and operational four grist mill. The annual festival held the second weekend in October is the best time to experience the complex.
There are several Farmer's Markets including Manfull Market that has been in operation for over 100 years by the same family. It is open daily from May through December except Sundays. The Carrollton Farmers Market held on Saturday mornings from May through November has been a local staple for over 30 years.

Summer and fall.

Spring temperatures are cold with averages in the upper 40's and highs in the upper 50's. Nights are cold with lows in the mid 30's. Summer temperatures are mild with averages in the low 70's and highs in the low 80's. Nights are cool with lows in the upper 50's. Fall temperatures are cool with averages in the low 50's and highs in the low 60's. Nights are cold with lows in the low 40's. Winter temperatures are cold with averages in the upper 20's and highs in the mid 30's. Nights are cold with lows in the low 20's.

Accommodations

Carroll County has three natioanl chain hotels in Carrollton. There are several bed and breakfast that offer different types of rooms. There several campgrounds and cabin locations throughout the county.
