You will find locally owned shops boasting all things equine, Aiken’s own Hunt China, old-fashioned candy, locally roasted coffee, and tailored clothing. After a long day of exploring, delicious food and welcoming ambiance awaits you at one of our unique restaurants.

Take time to explore the trails in the Hitchcock Woods, run through the Sprayground at Citizens Park, meander through the labyrinth at Hopelands Gardens, step into history at the Aiken Historical Museum, grab a healthy treat at the Aiken County Farmers Market, or check out the talent on display at the Aiken Center for the Arts.

A trip to Aiken means getting outdoors, experiencing history, meandering through beautiful parks and bustling shopping. Aiken is an equestrian community and you can watch a polo match, see racing horses train, take a ride through trails in the woods, experience a horse show, or visit an equestrian museum. As you explore Aiken you will notice a thriving downtown that has much to offer. Aiken hosts world-class events and festivals showcasing music (an incredible bluegrass festival is held here yearly), dance, outdoor concerts, food, history, and much more. In Aiken there's always something new to discover. Aiken's Makin Festival, Steeplechase, The Aiken Bluegrass Festival, Hops n' Hogs Bluegrass and Beer Festival, The Farmers Market in the Alley, Antiques in the Heart of Aiken, Southern City Film Festival, and Oktoberfest are some of the festivals to choose from.

Cultural Activities





Aiken is home to arts, music, film, and performing arts events. Julliard sends students to Aiken for a week to perform and teach in the local schools. We have an impressive center for the arts, and a local theatre who put on shows and brings in national talent. In November Aiken hosts a Film Festival through Southern City Film Institute, with films from all over the world being presented.

Attractions






Aiken hosts historic trolley tours, a Train Museum, a Carriage Museum, and a Thoroughbred Hall of Fame. Aiken has nearby farm tours, a Center for the Arts with regional and national works on display, a historic stable, a local brewery and a local coffee roaster. Downtown Aiken hosts excellent local shops and restaurants and you could spend a day shopping and eating your way through it.

Aiken is a very walkable city, and offers taxi services as well.The City also offers a wonderful historic trolley tour that you won't want to miss!

Spring and fall.

Moderate climate all year round. Hot in the summer, it can get down to freezing in the winter but it doesn't stay there for long. Spring and fall in Aiken can't be beat!
