Area Overview

The railroad played a vital part in the history of Aberdeen. We are named after Aberdeen, Scotland, the hometown of the Milwaukee Railroad President, Alexander Mitchell. This city became known as the Hub City of the Dakotas due to the many rail lines converging in Aberdeen from all directions much like spokes on a wheel joining at its hub. The city grew rapidly and today Aberdeen has diversified into a strong agriculture, manufacturing, and service center. Families enjoy its hometown allure and the many educational and social opportunities.
