Desert character. It can’t be conjured, landscaped or kindled with twinkling bulbs. John Ford knew that. So did Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis L’Amour. Spend a few days in Greater Phoenix and you’ll understand, too. America’s sixth-largest city still has cowboys and red-rock buttes and the kind of cactus most people see only in cartoons. It is the heart of the Sonoran Desert and the gateway to the Grand Canyon, and its history is a testament to the spirit of Puebloans, ranchers, miners and visionaries.
Phoenix is also known for its golf courses, hiking and sunshine, but many travelers forget that Major League sports, outdoor adventure and top-notch cuisine commonly steal the spotlight in Greater Phoenix- making it the perfect destination for a family vacation. Who better to share these bonding experiences with than your family, creating lasting memories? Phoenix can even be FUN for teenagers! The kids or teens can enjoy outdoor activities, hands-on museums and animal attractions while parents indulge at luxurious resorts and spas, an assortment of restaurants, shopping in a Sonoran Desert playground and the rare opportunity to see a smile on their teenager’s face. Phoenix can offer relaxation, breathtaking views and once in a lifetime experiences including family togetherness.

Top Things To Do In Phoenix For much of the year, the outdoors are perfect for golf, pools and hiking, but there are lots of great indoor activities, also. Spa days, shopping and touring museums are also some of our guests favorite ways to spend the day. Try something new with a horse back ride at sunset or hot air balloon ride for a better view of the Sonoran Desert.

Top Phoenix Events Phoenix was host the Super Bowl in 2008 and welcomes the large scale event back to the Valley in 2015. Because of Phoenix's vast size, the city was constructed with plenty of hotels and the ability to hold a large capacity of guests, therefore attracting many major events throughout the area. A huge draw in the springtime are the 15 Major League Baseball teams that call Phoenix home for Cactus League Spring Training, as well as the very popular Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament. Phoenix also hosts many races each year- the Ironman, Phoenix Marathon and the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon Series are some of the most popular events. Phoenix also celebrates the LGBT community each year with the fabulous Phoenix Pride parade.
