| Description | In 1994, The Science Center of Southern Illinois opened its doors and an incredible journey of innovative hand-on science education and fun began. Since that day, we have welcomed many visitors from communities near and far. Each year, the museum welcomes over 18,000 visitors and over 100 field trip groups to explore the museum and experience a unique hands-on educational environment.
The Science Center is a fully interactive and hands-on children's science museum. Exhibits are constantly being updated and improved. Monthly programs include bunny play dates, Grown-Up's-Night-Out, Home-School classes, animal education presented by Free Again, camps, seminars, and more.
As a non-profit organization, TSC covers 50% of its operating costs through admissions, gift shop sales, grants, and programming fees. 10% stems from the City of Carbondale. The remaining 40% must come from the generosity of our wonderful donors. Because of your continued efforts, TSC has continued to mentor the young scientists of tomorrow.
It is easy to get bogged down in the struggles our society faces.
