DescriptionThousands of youths and families come to the Library each year for a one-of-a-kind experience. Our unique library/museum strives to engage our visitors’ with new experiences and insights at every visit.

The Mapparium®
What better place to explore social science than the famous Mapparium, where you can step inside a three-dimensional, stained-glass globe of the world?

A gallery space on the first floor that features annual rotating exhibits about Mary Baker Eddy’s life, ideas, accomplishments, and legacy.

Sensational Press. Radical Response.
Learn about the often tabloid-like press coverage of Mary Baker Eddy’s personal life and her radical ideas behind founding a newspaper in 1908 with an independent voice.

Annual Programs include:
APRIL SCHOOL VACATION WEEK program includes a week of free activities for youths that highlight the theme of the Library’s new lobby exhibit as well as educates children and their families about incorporating inspirational ideas in their everyday lives. During this program, tours of the Mapparium and admission to the Library are free for visitors ages 17 and under.

ONE WORLD, the Library's annual summer enrichment program, includes various arts activities designed to connect children to the Library's historical collections. Each week we feature a unique musical performance, a book giveaway, and free admission to the world-famous Mapparium for youths up to the age of 10.

OPENING OUR DOORS is Boston's largest single day of free cultural events, held annually on Columbus Day. The Mary Baker Eddy Library hosts performances by local music groups and offers numerous all-day family activities such as seasonally themed crafts, face painting stations, storytelling, and scavenger hunts.

CARING FOR CHRISTMAS is an annual tradition at The Mary Baker Eddy Library. Each December we celebrate the holiday season with a lively performance featuring an original script and music performed by local actors and singers. The audience may participate in the fun and join in with the singing of carols.

FEBRUARY SCHOOL VACATION WEEK program includes a week of free activities for youths which promotes exploration and scholarship of the Library’s vast collections through various activities. During this program, tours of the Mapparium and admission to the Library are free for visitors ages 17 and under.
