DescriptionIn 2008, nine-time GRAMMY award winner Wynton Marsalis was commissioned to write a piece commemorating the 200th anniversary of Harlem’s legendary Abyssinian Baptist Church. The result is a sacred celebration; a sweeping composition for Big Band and 70-voice Gospel Choir. The Carr Center is proud to present this sweeping masterpiece to Detroit audiences for the first time.
