Nestled in Norwalk’s historic Mathews Park, Stepping Stones opens your child’s world to a lifelong love of learning through play. Grab an expressions sheet and explore your feelings in the new Express Yourself exhibit about social and emotional learning. Act out your feelings on camera. Explore how creating artwork, music or dance moves can affect your mood. Overcome frustration as you cooperate with other visitors to successfully move a ball through a maze. You’ll leave this exhibit feeling empowered and more in tune with yourself and others.
Hands-on, kid-powered fun is the focus of the fan-favorite Energy Lab®. The futuristic, wet-and-windy, energy-themed exhibit inspires you to explore and invent while learning about energy and its sources. Even the museum’s youngest visitors have a place just for them. Inspired by the latest early childhood development research, Tot Town sparks curiosity, fosters early learning and promotes literacy for children birth – 36 months. Whether it’s singing along with classic childhood rhymes or interacting with familiar objects, spending quality time in this imaginative space is a great way for infants, toddlers and their caregivers to play and learn together.
Stepping Stones also features play-based learning and family fun in Build It!; Nano; the Traveling Exhibit Gallery; the Solar Express; the tented, open-air courtyard; the state-of-the-art multimedia theater and the lush community gardens. There are daily programs, engaging workshops, special events, a cafe and a retail store and so much more. This year marks a milestone for Stepping Stones as the museum will be celebrating fifteen years of “playing it forward” with a series of special events and programming. |
